Scrapathon Madness

Last night was our scrapathon! There were 10 of us participating. To add to the sketch, single and double layout challenges I set, I also added a mystery word challenge to make it a bit more challenging. In the end, after 4 hours of solid scrapbooking and friendly competition, Belinda won the 'most layouts' and took home the $50 cash :) Belinda did 11 layouts in 4 hours...I did 5.

I had a great time. We have decided to do it more often...maybe another one in February.

I think because you have a 'competition' mindset, you actually get layouts done, where as in a social scrapping environment, you chat more and sometimes go home with none done. Both types of nights are great and both have their purpose...so lets do both :)

Another Digi

Just snuck another digital layout in using a PageMaps templates before I set up for the Scrapathon tonight.

This photo was taken on a stormy night just over a week ago. We had fish and chips on the beach with the cousins. Was lovely :)

A First For Me :)

I have been a digital scrapbooker for 5 years now and today I used a layered digital template for the first time!! I will be using these more often I think!

I downloaded a free template from PageMaps HERE to see if I liked it. (free one is down the bottom of the page). Instructions are included in the download if you have no idea like me.

You will need Photoshop or Photoshop Elements to be able to use these templates.

This is what the template looked like before I started...

and then I opened up the papers I wanted, dragged them onto the template and used the clipping mask function to cut them to the right shape...was so easy...and fun :)

I am so excited about the Scrapathon tomorrow night!!! Although I did have a nightmare about it last night haha. I only have 10 sets of photos so hopefully I don't get them all done and not have anything else to do.

Will be back sometime on Sunday with the layouts I create at the Scrapathon :D

October Sketch Challenge

I have missed out on doing the last 2 months sketch challenges over at Ingeborg's Scrapbooking Competitions Blog because of our move and this month I didn't want to miss out so I did a quick digital layout just in the nick of time :)

Scrapathon Challenge

Do you want to get some layouts done REALLY fast?!
Are you ready for a CHALLENGE and some friendly competition?!
Well, I am holding a Scrapathon Challenge on
Saturday 13th November 6.30pm – 10.30pm
Venue: My home in the township of Esperance (email for address)

So you ask, how does this work?
Well, everyone is asked to bring a $5.00 entry fee and the person with the most pages completed in the 4 hours wins the cash.

Rules:
1 - No cutting or starting your layouts before the set time. (picking papers and products, sketching your layouts and typing journalling is allowed)
2 – At least 2 of your layouts must have journalling.
3 – Each layout must be completed.
4 – Each page is counted as 1 point, so a double layout is 2 points.

Included in your layouts completed must be:
1 – 1x double layout with 4 or more photos
2 – 1x single layout with 3 or more photos
3 - 1x mystery sketch challenge announced on the night
(need a 5x7 portrait photo)
any layouts completed after these are a bonus!

So, what do you think??? Will you join me???
Start shopping for supplies, printing your photos and preparing because we are going to have a ball!! Oh, and don’t forget to bring a plate of goodies to share!

Available to use on the night will be a Cricut Machine, Cuttlebug and Sewing Machine.

Retreating at the Rock :)

I have just returned from the 11th Wave Rock Retreat by Scrappin' Outback and have thoroughly enjoyed the company of 50 other keen scrappers.

'All in the Past' Class. This was a 4 layout class, I did one...




This year Karen gave us a sketch challenge to complete with the twist that we had to add 'something borrowed, something blue, something old, something new'. I made it into a double layout and used our new house photos...


I was able to get 3 layouts done that weren't class layouts.

I had a fabulous time and am in the mood to scrap. I wasn't ready to stop like some years.

The next retreat is on the weekend of the 25th of March :)

All Inspired :D

I was getting my photos ready for the retreat and got all inspired and just HAD to do a layout.

This new house has great light for scrapping...all inspired now :)

Love these Prima papers..they are so easy to slap a layout together!

Wave Rock Retreat is approaching :)

As you may have heard, our family is moving back to Esperance on the 24th of this month :) I made myself a rule that I wasn't allowed to start packing until I had done my retreat class layouts. I have finally finished and today have collected a heap of boxes from Kondinin so I can start packing...woohoo!

This retreat I am teaching 2 classes. The first one is called 'Pinwheels and Buntings' and is a single layout. Here are my sneak peaks...

And my second class is a double layout and includes up to 15 wallet sized photos and a pocket for memorabilia. The themes are Travel and The Zoo, but you can use any photos using this photo placement. I might do a birthday one too if I get time in the move.
